Jesuit Refugee Service Serbia and Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore from Italy have signed a cooperation agreement to create opportunities for their students to participate in internship programs in Serbia.
Our mission is to accompany, to serve and to advocate for the rights of refugees and other forcibly displaced persons. To accomplish our mission, we need help from others, especially from young people from other European countries.
“Just one first-hand encounter with refugees is more valuable than dozens of news reports, pictures or video clips. In this way, we help decrease xenophobia and intolerance toward refugees which is present in many European countries,” said Adrian Nikacevic, JRS County Director.
This cooperation will enable young people to meet and spend time with those in need by directly working with them. Additionally, it will help them develop compassion, empathy, and a humanitarian focus that could potentially encourage some of them to start similar initiatives in their own societies.
