Tvrtko Barun, is the winner of this year&#8217;s European Citizen&#8217;s Prize, which is awarded each year to prominent individuals, associations and organizations for their exceptional achievements and commitment to promoting European cooperation and common values.<\/p>\n<p>Fr. Barun was nominated for the prize by the head of the EPP delegation MEP Dubravka Suica, who was supported by her colleagues Ivana Maletic, Zeljana Zovko and Ivica Tolic.<\/p>\n<p>He was nominated for his devotion to the\u00a0refugee\u00a0cause.<\/p>\n<p>Describing his work, Barun said: <em>\u201cI think being open to others and to the different is a challenge for all people regardless of their faith. Christ&#8217;s words can help us as Christians to choose openness, acceptance of strangers, to recognize the good in others and allow others to enrich us through their difference.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cI think being open to others and to the different is a challenge for all people regardless of their faith.
