One of the family reunification cases we have been involved in is the case of minor K.K., who was admitted to the Integration House \u201cPedro Arrupe\u201d two years ago. During his stay at the Integration House, he actively participated in all activities and enrolled in primary and later secondary school.<\/p>\n

Separated from his parents along the way, the boy continued his journey, while his parents remained where they parted. The boy then arrived in Serbia, and later his mother sought asylum in the Netherlands, followed by a family reunification request. While staying at the Integration House, the beneficiary was integrated into the school system, proving to be very sociable and communicative. He formed friendships with local children and was warmly embraced by the community.<\/p>\n

After completing the family reunification procedure that lasted several years, accompanied by professionals, he was taken to the embassy to obtain his travel documents. A few days later, he flew to the Netherlands to be with his mother.<\/p>\n

Partings with children are always less painful when we know they are where they should be\u2014in safe hands, close to their parents. However, life often takes unexpected turns. A few months later, our paths crossed again when our social worker traveled to the Netherlands for a seminar. Our former beneficiary expressed a desire to introduce his mother to one of the individuals who had cared for him throughout the entire process of family reunification. His mother gladly agreed to personally meet our colleague after all those years and express her gratitude for taking care of her son during their separation.<\/p>\n

They met in the city where the beneficiary had been accommodated with his family and went to a restaurant, sharing their feelings during the time they were apart. The reunion was deeply touching and emotional. In such circumstances, our professional team takes pride in working in the best interest of children.<\/p>\n
