A new regional project has been launched to safeguard the protection and participation rights of refugees and migrants in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo* and Serbia. The initiative aims both to improve the daily lives of refugees and migrants and to strengthen the capacity of institutions and civil society organizations working with them.
The project’s overall objective is to ensure that refugees and migrants can live in dignity, feel safe, and take an active role in the societies where they reside.
In Serbia, activities will focus on:
-
Providing psychosocial support, information, and guidance during asylum and registration procedures;
-
Supporting access to health care, housing, education, and financial integration;
-
Organizing community-building activities and psychosocial support;
-
Offering Serbian language courses, creative workshops, and labor market integration training;
-
Establishing a new Community Integration Centre to serve as a hub for education, training, and community engagement;
-
Conducting research on unaccompanied minors and advocating for improved policies;
-
Monitoring legislative changes linked to the new EU Pact on Migration and Asylum;
-
Engaging the public through media work and awareness-raising;
-
Building the professional capacities of JRS Serbia staff.
The project also emphasizes cooperation with local and national authorities and civil society organizations, helping them to improve knowledge and skills in areas such as education, social inclusion, and integration of refugees and migrants.
