As part of the World Refugee Day commemoration that we organised at Ada Ciganlija, we also presented the Together for Change project, an Erasmus+ initiative that brings together schools, students, organisations and young people from migrant communities across eight European countries, including Serbia.

The project aims to promote young people’s active citizenship, develop critical thinking and foster a better understanding of migration, while contributing to more inclusive schools and communities. A particular focus is placed on connecting schools with organisations working with migrants, as well as on actively involving young people from migrant communities in project activities.

As part of the project, an educational programme has been developed to enable students to explore topics such as migration, prejudice, diversity and belonging through a range of activities, while developing critical thinking skills and learning about the experiences of people who have gone through migration. One of the key objectives is to ensure that discussions about migration extend beyond the classroom, enabling students to work together with migrants to design and implement concrete initiatives in their schools and communities.

The presentation of the project during the World Refugee Day commemoration provided an opportunity for participants to learn more about Together for Change, its initiatives and activities, as well as the possibilities for getting involved in the project. It was also an opportunity to highlight the importance of connecting different actors in building a society where diversity is recognised as an opportunity for learning, cooperation and collective action.
